๐ผ๐ค Microsoft's AI Rebrand: From Bing Chat to Copilot
Microsoft has rebranded its Bing Chat AI interface to Copilot, expanding beyond Bing and Microsoft Edge to a standalone experience.
Initially launched as part of Bing to challenge Google's search dominance, Copilot signifies a shift in focus towards competing directly with ChatGPT.
Copilot and Copilot for Microsoft 365 (the paid version) are now distinct offerings.
The new name follows Microsoft's use of Copilot across various AI initiatives, starting with GitHub's adoption of the name last year.
My take: Microsoft's rebranding to Copilot reflects a strategic adaptation in the AI landscape. The initial move to leverage Bing with AI for market share against Google did not work out as intended, and now the new goal is to signal with the new name the ambition to be the number one in AI assistance for knowledge workers. Nevertheless, using the same name everywhere confuses at least me.
๐ง๐ก Mail Assistance: Superhuman AI Introduces Auto Summarize
Superhuman AI has launched a new feature called Auto Summarize, enhancing their suite of AI tools designed for efficient email management.
This feature automatically generates a one-line summary for every email conversation, updating in real-time as new emails arrive.
Auto Summarize operates in the background, requiring no active recall from the user, and can be expanded for more detail by pressing โMโ.
My take: Auto Summarize by Superhuman AI offers users a streamlined and efficient way to manage their inbox. While the feature enhances productivity, it also raises questions about privacy and data handling in AI-powered tools. Ensuring that such innovations adhere to strict privacy standards is crucial for maintaining user trust. I like the concept, but donโt intend to become a Superhuman user. However, it would be really cool to have a plugin for Mozilla Thunderbird that could provide a similar functionality with a local LLM.
๐โโ๏ธ๐ Notion's Q&A: Chat With Your Knowledge Base
Notion has launched a beta version of its new AI feature, Q&A, enabling users to get instant answers from their stored data.
Q&A functions across various types of information in Notion, like project notes, meeting minutes, and documents.
Customer data privacy is prioritized, with the AI only referencing pages the user has permission to access.
Companies like the global HR platform Remote have reported significant time savings in information retrieval with Q&A.
Q&A is part of the Notion AI Add-on, but if you signed up after the 6th of November you have to join the waitlist
My take: Notion is on the forefront of integrating AI in their note-taking application. Improving search by reducing it to only seconds will save a lot of time for knowledge workers and can be a real game-changer.
